I’m feeling a little sleepy this morning. My arms and shoulders are still sore from yesterday’s paddling session. It'll take me a few minutes to warm up, but once I do, the soreness fades and I can just focus on paddling.

My favorite movie is The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I love that it’s about adventure, but more than that—I relate to it deeply. I’ve lived that quiet, boxed-in office life. I did it for years in the Navy, and I hated it. It was the same during all those DIY home renovations in Texas. I spent so much time stuck in my head, daydreaming about the adventures I wished I was living. Constantly wondering “what if.”

I was deeply unhappy then. But now... now I’m here. And this summer, I get to live my own adventure.

The lake was incredibly peaceful today. Hardly anyone was there. It was a perfect day.
